Recent Workshop in Saudi Arabia Equips Engineers with Skills for Nonmetallic Composite Casing and Tubing Analysis
The recent workshop titled “Finite Element Analysis for Nonmetallic Composite Casing and Tubing” held in Saudi Arabia, organized by the Interdisciplinary Research Center for Advanced Materials at King Fahd University of Petroleum & Minerals (KFUPM), Aramco, Fluid Codes, and Ansys, saw enthusiastic participation from engineers, industry experts, and students.
The collaborative effort aimed to provide participants with the essential skills required for conducting Finite Element Analysis (FEA) tailored specifically for casing and tubing using Ansys software. The workshop’s curriculum was meticulously crafted to align with the anticipated DNV standard on Composites Downhole Casing & Tubing (CDCT).
During the workshop, Fluid Codes’ engineers Sagar Mali and Mohammed Waseem led hands-on training sessions, covering a diverse array of topics such as modeling, stress analysis, fatigue, buckling, and thermal analysis pertinent to CDCT. The sessions were designed to offer practical insights and foster a deeper understanding of the subject matter.
The workshop concluded with an overview session focusing on constructing a performance envelope for composites using Ansys, providing attendees with a comprehensive understanding of the process and its applications.
The event not only served as a platform for knowledge exchange but also facilitated networking opportunities among participants from various sectors. Feedback from attendees highlighted the workshop’s effectiveness in enhancing their skills and preparedness for the evolving landscape of nonmetallic composite analysis in the oil and gas industry.
